Faenza Contemporanea – ceramics sculptures, contemporary protagonists
The exhibition displays the artworks and installations of six ceramic artists working in Faenza: Cristina D’Alberto (1978), Mirco Denicolò (1962), Ana Cecilia Hillar (1969), Giovanni Ruggiero (1973), Andrea Salvatori (1975), Abdon Zani (1974). The exhibiting project is curated by Oscar Dominguez.
Ceramics is a journey, a contamination by definition. Ceramics has never encountered any boundaries, on the contrary, it has always been travelling: through houses, museums and workshops. This exhibition is also about these aspects and finds a suitable frame in the purposes of the European Route of Ceramics, a cultural route of the Council of Europe, of which Faenza has been coordinating the presidency since 2018.
The artworks selected introduce an overview on the Faenza ceramics production, where craftsmen, artists, designers and ceramic workshops all live, cooperate and connect together; where the technical knowledge is open to receive the contamination of the new contemporary languages and tradition.
The exhibition is organized by the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region and the Municipality of Faenza, in collaboration with the European Route of Ceramics.
