The project strives to raise awareness of sustainable development through cultural activities. Partners from six European countries (France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Croatia, and Malta) will work together to share knowledge concerning environmental challenges and transformative art, intertwining waste management awareness with artistic initiatives.
The project plans six artistic residencies resulting in six exhibitions, hosted by each participating country. Each residency will last for ten days and will be responsible for performing one or more artistic creations, with the aim of highlighting the dimensions of the problem of waste and the need for its rational management. The final results of the OTRart project are meant to be permanent, by the creation of a final digital exhibition, allowing a cross-border diffusion of the artwork, thus leading the way to new approaches and methods in the artistic field and beyond.
The European Route of Ceramics will develop activities aiming to combine artistic creation with the protection of natural resources and the environment, sharing its expertise in the ceramic sector.
The European Route of Ceramics will organize an artistic residency in Faenza, as well as a workshop for professional ceramists. The topics will be, on the one hand, how clay contained in mudslides can be reused for creating ceramics, and on the other, how “wastes” can be converted into eco-friendly ceramic pigments.
